The Greene Bead
Meet the Maker
Hello! My name is Leha, and I am the artist for The Greene Bead. I specialize in Wire Wrapped and Polymer Clay jewelry, and have been a gemstone lover since I was a small child- you could always find me coming home laden with rocks in my pockets! I try to use as much naturally derived product as I can, including all genuine gemstones, mined locally here in Wisconsin, Illinois, across the US and around the world. Some of my pieces even include upcycled items such as vintage beads, crystals and buttons! My journey began back in 2010 as a way to create new jewelry for myself, a broke college student, by taking apart jewelry I already owned and piecing it back together to create new items. One of my roommates at the time saw what I was doing and asked me to create a few pieces for him, and that's how this all started!
After many years of practice and improvement (I'm still improving everyday!), I've come to the point in my journey where I can start giving back. I've created many pieces to be used in silent auctions to raise money for my high school, my hometown library, benefits for friends and family to help with medical bills, and even Parkinson's research and Veterans' Assistance programs. Last, but certainly not least, it is my personal goal to make sure each and every item I create for you is completely unique and that you are 100% satisfied with your order. Please feel free to message me with any questions, comments or concerns! I wish you all the best in your endeavors to find that perfect gift for yourself or someone you love. How it’s Made
I stumbled upon a pair of Ammonite fossil slices at a gemshow several years ago in Viroqua, Wisconsin. When I brought them home, I was surprised to find a pair of Elk teeth waiting for me in my mailbox! Sent by a very close family friend who lives in Wyoming, I knew that I wanted to pair these two items together. Ammonite is great for ancestral work, and what better way to ground you to the earth than a piece of the earth itself? I decided to mix up a "galaxy" blend of Polymer Clay to represent the sky, and added a Rainbow Moonstone teardrop to represent the tears of the Moon, which has been around nearly as long as the earth itself.

FAQ's:
Metal Allergies: Any metal may cause a reaction; I do pride myself on using the most hypoallergenic metals I can (Copper, Sterling and 14K Gold), however some people may still have a reaction. In order to prevent a reaction on a budget, you may use a product like SkinGuard to coat the metal. If you wish to have any of the metals that would give you a reaction (mainly Copper) switched to a different metal, please send me a message. I can easily swap Copper earwires for Sterling Silver or Sterling for Gold at a small upcharge. I can also recreate most rings, bracelets, necklaces and earrings in Sterling Silver or Gold for an additional charge. To re/make an item with different metals, this would be considered a custom order and will require a deposit.
Patina and Tarnish: Sterling Silver and Copper will naturally patina/tarnish over time and with extended wear. Bathing with your jewelry will cause it to patina/tarnish faster, and constant wear will also increase how quickly your items patina/tarnish. Depending on the stones used in each piece, you may use a regular jewelry cleaning solution (meant specifically for Sterling Silver, or just a general cleaner for Copper), but it is advised that a regular cleaning cloth or a soft-bristled toothbrush and a little bit of mild soap be used over the cleaning solutions to protect the stones in your piece.
General Metal Jewelry Care: Never wear your pieces while swimming, bathing, cleaning or while doing activities. The chemicals in certain bath and body products, cleaning agents as well as chlorine will eat away and cause damage to your metals and stones. Wearing your jewelry to be will cause your earwires to bend out of shape, wires to catch on blankets, and can break necklace chains.
Pearl Jewelry Care: Pearls must be cleaned only with a pearl-specific cleaning solution, or gently cleaned with a soft-bristled brush and mild soaps. Do not store your pearls in a loose jewelry box unless they are in a protective pouch or their own box inside of your jewelry case.
Polymer Clay Jewelry Care: I do not seal my Polymer Clay pieces. While the curing process does make Polymer Clay become plasticine, it is still susceptible to damage from cleaning solutions, bath and body products and chlorine.
Hemp Jewelry Care: Hemp is a natural fiber. Wearing this material while swimming, bathing and sleeping will cause the fibers to break down much faster and cause breakage.
